ASTRO 2010 is the 15th in the series of Astronautics conferences that the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute holds every two years. ASTRO 2010 will take place May 4-6, 2010 at the Westin Bristol Place Toronto Airport Hotel in Toronto. The theme of the conference is CANADA'S FUTURE IN SPACE A MISSION IN COLLABORATION with an emphasis on space activities in support of a safer world, a healthier planet and a stronger economy.

ASTRO 2010 has two prestigious awards: the Dr. A. J. Saber Memorial Best Paper Award and the COM DEV Best Student Paper Award. These awards will be presented at the conference.
Background
The Dr. A. J. Saber Memorial Best Paper Award was introduced in 1992 by the Astronautics Section of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute, in memory of
Dr. Aaron Jaan Saber who was killed along with three fellow professors at Concordia University in Montreal on August 24, 1992. Dr. Saber was Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Concordia, a long-time member of CASI and its Astronautics Section, and was on the Organizing Committee of the 1992 CASI Astronautics Conference.
Purpose
The Dr. A. J. Saber Memorial Best Paper Award encourages excellence in all space-related fields. It is awarded to the author(s) of the paper judged to be the best paper presented at each CASI Astronautics conference.
Eligibility
All manuscripts submitted for the ASTRO’10 Proceedings on or before the deadline of March 19, 2010 will be eligible for consideration.
Selection Criteria
The criteria for the selection of the winning paper are:
scientific and technical merit
clarity of the information presented in the text and figures.
The selection will be made by the Organizing Committee of the Conference whose decision is final.
Presentation of the Award
The Dr. A. J. Saber Memorial Best Paper Award will be presented to the author(s) at an appropriate time during the Conference.
Purpose
To encourage and promote research activities in space by providing financial support to the student author(s) of the Award-winning paper presented at the ASTRO 2010 Conference.
Eligibility
Each recipient must have been registered as a full-time student at a Canadian university as of December 2009, and must be an author of the candidate paper that may be presented orally or as a poster.
The first author and presenter of the candidate paper must be a student in accordance with #1 above.
Adjudication is based on the papers submitted for the Proceedings of ASTRO 2010 on or before the deadline of March 19, 2010.
Selection Criteria
The criteria for the selection of the winning paper are:
scientific and technical merit
clarity of the information presented in the text and figures.
The selection will be made by the Organizing Committee of the Conference whose decision is final.
Award
The COM DEV Best Student Paper Award consists of a cash prize of $2,000 to be divided equally among the student authors of the paper. In addition, each student author will receive a certificate.
Presentation of the Award
The COM DEV Best Student Paper Award will be presented to the author(s) at an appropriate time during the Conference.
